Medical review and sources

How we review the medical information in Jiwark’s tools against recognised international references, and each tool’s sources.

Last reviewed: 17 October 2026

The references we rely on

  • World Health Organization (WHO): Guidelines on selecting blood donors and assessing their suitability.
  • American Red Cross: Eligibility requirements, and the interval for each type of donation.
  • UK Blood Transfusion Services (JPAC): Donor selection guidelines and donation frequency.
  • MSD Manuals: A plain-language medical explanation of blood donation, in Arabic.
  • MedlinePlus (US National Library of Medicine): Blood typing, and Rh incompatibility in pregnancy.

How do we review the content?

  • We check every rule and number in the tools against the references above, and list each tool’s sources at the end of its page.
  • When a rule differs between countries we give the range, and never present one country’s rule as the only one.
  • We review again at least every 12 months, and whenever a known rule changes, and update the review date on each tool.

A review does not replace an examination: the doctor at the donation centre always makes the final decision. Editorial policy
