How we write Jiwark’s content and free tools, where the information comes from, and how to report an error.
Who we are
Jiwark is a free platform that connects blood donors with patients and the people looking for donors across the Arab world. It is built and run by CodeElectron. The donation itself always happens at an accredited donation centre or blood bank.
Where the information comes from
Our tools and medical pages are based on guidelines published by recognised bodies: the World Health Organization, national blood services, the Red Cross and Red Crescent, and trusted medical references such as the MSD Manuals and MedlinePlus.
Each tool lists its sources at the end of the page, with the date its content was last reviewed.
When the rules differ between countries
Donation rules are not the same everywhere. The wait between two whole blood donations, for example, is 56 days in the United States, at least 12 weeks in the United Kingdom, and 3 months for men and 4 for women in many countries, including several Arab countries.
When a rule differs, we do not present one country’s rule as the only one. We give the range and make clear that the donation centre in your country has the final word.
Medical review
We review the medical information in the tools against recognised international references: the World Health Organization, the American Red Cross, the UK Blood Services, the MSD Manuals and MedlinePlus. The review method and each tool’s sources are on the Medical review and sources page.
The content does not replace a doctor’s advice, and the doctor at the donation centre always makes the final decision.
Updates
We review the tools’ content at least every 12 months, and whenever a known rule changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top of each tool.
Your privacy in the tools
The free tools need no account. We do not save what you enter, and we do not send it to our visitor statistics.
Advertising
Jiwark may show advertising, including for medical products and services. Ads are kept separate from the content and labelled “Ad”, and they do not change the tools’ results or the rules they are based on.
Found an error?
If you find information that is inaccurate or out of date, write to us through info@jiwark.com with the page link and your source if you have one. We review every report, correct the content and update its date.
In an emergency
Jiwark is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest hospital.
